When was the last time you sat down on a bench to read a book. You blocked out the world around you. Noise it not reach you, not even the traffic or people walking by. You were immersed in another time and place. Ah, yes....I remember.
Today we are too busy to just relax with a good book. Everyone is texting and calling and writing, and searching the internet, zipping through correspondence and being bombarded by the media.
How about taking a few minutes off ? Get away from your routine. Come to our used book sale. Choose some good books. Contribute a few euros, 1 per book, do a good deed, practice your English for a while. Then take your books with you. Relax and enjoy.
Our 16th BOOK EXCHANGE & SALE is Wednesday April 17th & Thursday April 18th.
It's sponsored by the UEM LANGUAGE CENTER (UEM LAB). You're all welcome to come
Browse through the FICTION section. Pick up a detective novel, a good adventure story, a romance. Grab a book for a friend. You know she's interested in poetry, history, art. Yes, the NON-FICTION section could be interesting too. Check it out. And of course there's a section of children's books too.
There are books in ENGLISH and SPANISH, FRENCH and ITALIAN, and whatever other languages our contributors understood.
We always give the money collected to an NGO. This academic year we have chosen AVINTE: Asociación de Vountarios para la integración. They are young people who help other young people, most of whom have Cerebral Palsy.

I'm really according to this words. With the evolution of the media we have won a lot, but we have missed so much too. I think is really difficult to stop this direction, but not impossible. The solution is in parents, they must to be over the media to not loose things really important like the books. I've leaved the change and I can say that my parents never forbid me to have a playstation but I preferred go out with my friends and play running and screaming. Now the kids go out with theirs PSP, mobiles or something like this, their heads are always looking at the screen.
Awesome, Finally someone that realizes this lost. With so much technological development, we are missing good habits. Everyone should try to enjoy, at least, one evening per week reading a good book. As well, its an important way of learning, and at the moment childs and teenagers reading is getting more and more worse.
Nowadays internet is having a great impact on the society and a lot of things are done through the online media. Reading a book , a newspaper or something that you like helps you to disconnect and enjoy about what you are doing. In my case I like a lot to read sports newspaper, and here in Madrid I read it online because it is more comfortable, but whan I am in Barcelona I buy the newspaper to read it.
Actually, many people don´t read any books and they only use computers to be connected with the society. In my case, I´m not use to read books and sincerely I would like to begin reading books. For example, in the bed before sleep it´s a very good moment to disconnect and be relaxed. I used to read sports newspapers because I love sports and I like to be informed about the sports news.
I used to read one book per week. Currently, I read one per month. I have become a screen adict! I ought to writte down on my schedule when I should take a deep breath and open a good book.
Reading has become an obsolete hobby with the Internet. People prefer being a screen adict to read a book. In my case, I always read the newspaper in order to learn new vocabulary and to noticed what is happening in the world. Also I have to recognise that I should read some books so I could improve my expresion.
