Back to school. Unfortunately, the Christmas holidays are over.

The professors are all back at the U. What about you? Are you in class or are you procrastinating, telling your parents that you don't start till next week and taking a few more days off for a great ski-trip, a few more home-cooked meals and long lazy mornings. Hey, it's time to get back.

What are your New Year's Resolutions? Are you planning to study more, read more, get your assignments done on time? Is it time to finally sign up for the gym, go swimming or jogging regularly, take that bike out every weekend? More exercise, less chocolate, more fun, fewer worries.

What are your big plans for 2014? Maybe travel is in your future. You know you need to practice your English, so maybe you could fit in a trip to England or the US during spring break. Plan ahead. Get that ticket now and save on air fare. 2nd trimester will be over before you know it. If you're an exchange student you need to see Spain. What are you waiting for? Toledo, Segovia, Avila are all nearby. A trip to Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla is a must.

Some advice for 2014. Work hard during the week and travel on the weekends. You can take your friends with you. Enjoy your college experience. Enjoy your free time too.

Good advice Wendy! I do enjoy my free time, I just don't have enough of it. As far as New Year's resolutions, I'm also going to try to do more/less of several things: Call home more often, pay more attention to other people's problems, spend more time with friends, get out of the house more often. On the less side: watch less TV (it makes your brain dead), complain less about things I can't change, eat less junk food (I don't eat a lot but even a little is too much) and perhaps worry less, especially about things that probably will never happen. All the best for 2014, what the hell, let's be optimistic! Jerry

Hi wendy! I will start by saying that I began classes as the holidays were over, because if you do not attend the subjects of my career, you're lost! This year I plan to go more to the gym, because I think that exercise is necessary for good health. But mostly I would like to focus not so much in school, because you have to enjoy life while you can!; therefore I would like to hang out more with my friends and playing my guitar more, because I'm losing my ability. Also, I would love to take a few days off for get back to Murcia, to visit my old friends , who I miss so much! Thank you Wendy, regards. P.S.: This post made me think a lot…

Hi Wendy! I love the beginning of the new year, as everyone tries to improve his life, even a little. Some try to join the gym or stop smoking, but in my opinion all these things can be made throughout the year. In my case I already had several purposes to fulfill before the start of the new year, such as travel, enjoy my family and my friends and learn much English as I would like to finish my next career year in London

This year I have many purposes. Without knowing the reason, when we enter the year 2014 at 12: 00 o'clock, I felt an energy that told me that 2014 will be my year. My purposes are: learn to play guitar, improve my English so I can go to London next year, get good grades and spend more time with my family. Alomejor should ask the same purposes that calls all people as losing weight or quitting smoking, but I think there are more important and more satisfying things in my life. Cristina

Hi Wendy, I hope you will have a happy new year too. We are once again starting a new semester and i feel really motivated like i normally do in all the exciting beginnings. This is the last leg to finish my university degree and i´m really proud of myself to be where i am. So in that way, thats my principal purpose for this entry 2014 year; Finish appropriately and with the best results as possible my stage in college. And then, with a lucky strike, find a job to put in practice all my knowledges and get experience in workplace. Not forgetting to enjoy life and traveling around the world!

I think it's a great initiative, it is very interesting to meet new people and if it helps you to practice English is a great opportunity, because in your own country rarely practice other language that is not yours. It is an option to get more out of college life.

I would like to go to another country to improve my English, but I don't think that it is possible this year because I don't have much time or money

Every year we think that this year is the good, but the reality is other, we want do more things, but the emotion is short. Is march and we follow explaining everywhere that for june "I start to diet" "I'm going to the gym" "I won't eat more chocolate" and... always same.. The important is the intention.
