Candy Canes for sale 2014

Wendy . Blog Shakespeare slept here! Publicado 15 Diciembre 2014

Candy Canes for sale! Nieves at the Language Center was responsible for all those handmade tags we put on the candy canes as well as for decorating the collection boxes. As in years past you get a candy cane with a cute tag in exchange for a euro. Some of the candy canes get eaten immediately. Others decorate Christmas trees or end up as table decor on Christmas Eve. The money is going to help send food and medical supplies to the people quarantined because of the outbreak of Ébola in Sierra Leona.
-Merry Christmas to all.

Wendy

Vocabulary:
a cute tag: una etiqueta mona
food: comida
outbreak: brote, comienzo

Hello , the truth that this one is a great measure to obtain benefits for all the persons who so badly are spending it due to the disease of the ébola. It looks like to me a very peculiar way of helping the others and of being in contact and speaking English with all the persons of the university.

This is so nice. I wish I knew before leaving Madrid for the holidays, because I would have bought some candy canes for my family. I don't really like how they taste but I love to use them as decorations.

The english lab of UEM always contribute with NGOs and they have a good policy for help to needy people. Through volunteering, the students sell things for very little money to help in causes like ebola . Today and tomorrow in building B, we sell books for 1€ to help the persons with Ébola in Sierra Leona.

I think this is a great idea to celebrate such an important day as Christmas. It is also a good and original way to earn money for those people from Sierra Leona who need our help. I congratulate you and I hope this to repeat more years!

It's a great idea. From here I congratulate the project and the teachers who organazided it. In my case, I don't like candy canes, but I like the idea fact of helping people who need it, by buying some of them. I've seen something similar in building B, in wich Wendy Frankel intervened. Books sold at very low prices and money went to charity. Thanks to Wendy's comunication skills I bought three books. Everything for helping others !

I think it is great helping the people in Sierra Leona by raising money this way. Everybody should help giving some money to this cause, if you have 1 euro for a coffee, you can buy a candy cane. Activities like this and the book exchange make the world a better place.

Ebola is a big problem today for Sierra Leone, so that one euro is something that today we spend foolishly buy something, even take drinks in a holiday we spent many more euros, so a euro is an insignificant amount significantly help others

The ebola is a horrible disease. The ebola exist for many years but a lot people don't know because they live far away. When the first patient arrived to first world, alarm bells sounded, the wealthy countries started to search the cure and they invested a lot of money, it's so sad that this is happen in 21 century.
