Clean out your book shelves! Share your interests with others! Practice your English! Encourage reading! Donate to charity! What a good combination!

UEM LAB's 11th BOOK EXCHANGE & SALE was a great success because many people helped make it so. If you are one of those people, THANK YOU.

What better place for a USED Book Sale than at a university. Everyone likes to read, to get away from the computer for a while and drift. Within seconds you're swept into another world, another season, a different culture. Do you like thrillers? What about scientific discoveries, historical romances or archeological digs?

And your children or siblings? Wouldn't you like to encourage them to read, for enjoyment? For enjoyment? What a concept!

Do you read in different languages? Are you an international student here in Spain or do you plan to go abroad? Are you still mono-lingual? Not in the Europe of the 21st century, I hope! We sold books in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. And there were a few in other languages also. Russian? Dutch? Arabic?

This is an international university with hundreds of foreign students, exchange students, visiting professors. And foreign languages are becoming more and MORE important. Now you hear conversations in a variety of languages and accents all over campus.

This 2 day event was a big success: 578 books changed hands! The price was right--only 1 Euro per book. Everyone could afford to buy a book or two. There were a lot of hardbacks and paperbacks that looked like new and could easily become Christmas presents or birthday presents in the not too distant future.

And a big THANK YOU to all our past contributors. This event would not be the success that it is, year after year, without you.

Future contributors? We're always looking for used books. Let me know if you have any you'd like to contribute. The UEM LAB's 12th BOOK EXCHANGE & SALE will be held in March or April. Stay turned.

Help us encourage reading!

BRING 1 and TAKE 1 or BUY 1 for 1 Euro!

Every year all proceeds from our USED BOOK SALES go to an NGO. This academic year we are supporting AMIGOS DE LOS MAYORES, a member of the international federation "Les Petit Fréres des Pauvres"/ Friends of the Elderly. Help us help them.
