12-12-12 or 12-21-12

Wendy . Blog Shakespeare slept here! Publicado 12 Diciembre 2012

Today is 12-12-12. So what's all the hype about? What is significant about 12-12-12 aside from the fact that the 3 numbers are the same?

According to Feng Shui the triple 12 is a day of good luck. Maybe that's why there seem to be hundreds of weddings planned for today in places like Hong Kong and Singapore, many more than for another less conspicuous date. Why is 12-12-12 special? Do you know? Send in a comment if you do.

No, no. It's not 12-12-12 that is important. It's 12-21-12 or 21-12-12 if you prefer. That's the date set by the Mayan calendar for the end of humanity. *This stone sculpture is known as the Aztec Calendar, but it's origin continues to be debated.

I really respect ancient culture. I think the generations before us knew a lot of things we can't even fathom. Have they left us messages that we just don't know how to decipher?

Back in 1969, ancient history to most of you, a song was born about 12-21-12. Age of Aquarius.
It became a hit in the musical HAIR.

Well, if any of you are worried about what could happen on December 21st, why not check out what NASA has to say. They're the ones in the know if anyone is.

What are you planning to do on December 21st, 2012? I plan to be celebrating the beginning of Christmas vacation, our hard earned winter break!

Great! Someone is reading this blog! You're right. It's called the Aztec calendar. However it is considered to have come from the Mexica culture, though several sources refer to it as the Mayan calendar. It's in the Museo Antropológico de México, a fantastic museum. I hope you can all go there some day. And while you're visiting Mexico, be sure to get to the Yucatán and all over México for that matter. I found the Mayan area particularly fascinating. You can see pyramids, visit little museums which house some of the ancient, or copies of the ancient "Códice" on which ancient Mayan scholars recorded their history and their predictions for the future.

Hi Wendy! As we have seen nothing happened on 21/12/12 and the world continues today. Many people believed that the world would end, others believed that it was going to produce a power outage and there were many people who took it seriously and made an exaggerated purchase food if that happened. I think that this event has been like "the end of the world in 2000" when people thought that computers were not prepared to change the millennium. I have to tell that in 2000 and in 2012 I'm very calmed and this facts has not been dramatics for me.

I think the theory that was going to end the world is nonsense. In my opinion people should not consider these things and live without waiting for the day when the world ends.

I SAW ON FACEBOOK A LOT OF PEOLPLE WHO TALKED ABOUT THE ENDING OF THE WORLD, I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IT BECAUSE I'M A REALISTIC PERSON, AND I'M READING A BOOK ABOUT THE MAYA'S STORY IN WHICH THEY NEVER TALK ABOUT THE END OF THE WORLD BUT THE BIGINNIG OF A NEW ERA.

I respect ancient cultures to, but I think that believe in this kind of things is something that we couldn't do now. We have real problems on these days to be preocupated about things that science can test is impossible.

I think it is very interestig the aztec's hystory, I mean, we could learn a lot of things of the science that is around our world. Fortunately, it didn't happen anything that dates, but I think that the Mayan Calendar it does not have dates of futures disasters... P.S.: I LOVE THAT SONG!
