Let's learn some new words to add seasoning to your English

Holiday Travel

Esther Morales Profesora inglés Language Center Blog Love for words Publicado 26 Julio 2015

Are you more or less ready for the holidays?

Whether you are going to a new destination or heading straight back home one thing is for sure, you wouldn't miss the holidays for the world.

Not everything about the holidays is pretty though.

First, one (1) dreads packing all the stuff we need to take with us which we invariably end up (2) lugging around from one place to the next.

Second, we dread travelling during (3) the peak season with lines that are out of the door, delays, oversold flights, tight connections and other assorted problems.

Third on our arrival, having some friends or family who we can stay with would be very convenient. Not only would we avoid spending a lot of money on accommodation but also (4) living out of our suitcases. If that were the case we would be more rested to (5) brave the crowds at the beach.

You might be thinking, why should I bother? (6) What a situation! (7) I’m staying put!

Even though (8) forewarned is forearmed, it is not my intention for you to have (9) a staycation so do not let these things (10) weigh on your mind.

Enjoy your trip!

Glossary:

(1) dread = temer

I've read both enteries and as others have said, it's a nice way to learn vocabulary. Of course, I'm looking at the Spanish Translations in the glossary to see how these things are said in Spanish! :) Have a great summer holiday (UK),vacation (US)!

You are right! Even though traveling can be annoying, exhausting, and inconvenient at times, it is well worth it. In my opinion, the benefits of traveling outweigh the drawbacks.
