I suppose I could identify myself as one of those teachers that have a "subtle aversion" to the use of Wikipedia as an authoritative or credible source. Nevertheless, I agree with the bloggers in that it provides the weary, not to be confused with "unwary", translator with an almost infinite number of "worlds" in which they can enter with the hope of shedding light on their lexical dilemma. I personally know professionals in other fields that consult technical/scientific pages in Wikipedia in order to either brush up their knowledge of a particular aspect, or even investigate in detail something new, often innovative. In all, I again agree with the bloggers when they say that it is a good starting point, or perhaps even a last resort for the translator, yet it should be used wisely and discerningly.
