Planning ahead

Wendy . Blog Published 27 January 2015

What's coming tomorrow? What's going on around you right now?

I always seem to be writing about what we've just done or what we are planning to do in the not too distant future. This does complicate the "here and now" which almost doesn't seem to exist. One lucky student, or maybe just a smart student was out on a bench in the garden as others walked by. She was oblivious to the others, just soaking up the sunshine. I wonder what she was thinking. 'This feels so good. I'm just relaxing for a few minutes. Soaking up the sun' Or more probably, 'I have an exam and I don't know anything. I don't know anything. I'm going to fail it. I can't learn all of this by tomorrow. I'll have to study all night.' Oh, I hope that's not what was running through her mind. I hope she was just enjoying the moment. It's a pity she didn't see the birds in the tree nor the rabbit hopping by her. I thought, "I wish I were out there right now and not here behind this window, typing away.

Recently I received a nice little book. It is rather enlightening. Basically it says that instead of running around non-stop, worrying about the past and the future we need to slow down and reflect on the present. As we used to say at Berkeley in the 60's, "Slow down. Take time to smell the flowers" We studied very hard. We read a lot. We spent hours and hours getting ready for exams, writing essays, or preparing projects. Then we sat back and relaxed. We found time to go to concerts, sit around with our friends and solve the problems of the world as we knew it. We kept up to date in our studies so that we could kick back and soak up the sun.

Don't stress out over exams and project deadlines. Plan ahead. Keep up a good pace. Follow a schedule. Then you can work and play, work and play and relax in between. Things haven't changed so much for university students of the computer age, except for the fact that you have all the information you could possibly need in seconds. Think posiitive. Be positive. Keep at it. What you do today will influence who you become tomorrow.

Be sure you notice the little things. Enjoy your cup of coffee. Really listen to your friends, Spend some time alone. Walk around the campus and check out the flowers.

And occasionally just stop for a moment, wherever you are, and feel the wind at your back or blowing in your hair. Look around. Life is good. The time is now. Seize the moment. I hope to see more of you, out in the gardens, relaxing. Turn off your cell phone and computer. Don't communicate with anyone. You planned ahead. Now you have a few minutes between clases. You have time to stop and smell the flowers.

Nowadays most people have a lifestyle too frantic. We are too concerned with the immediate future we have no time to relax and get away from our lifestyle. When we were young we didn't worry by some things and life was much more quiet, however as we get older we worry too much about some things without stopping a moment to rest and enjoy the present. We constantly warning about what will happen in the near future and we can't think in the far future.

After reading "Planing ahead", it makes you think how fast we all live. Starting from today I'm going to try and do things differently. For example: try to relax more, not worry about unimportant things, write a list and prioritize my tasks. Find time to call my friends and family just to say hello! I will try to worry when it's necessary.

I think that if you are an organized person, you can do whatever you want. Still, the text "planning ahead" makes one wonder, since few people our age are too organize, so I include myself.Today I had time to do my English homework and other subjets, so I deserve to party! Live life and seize the moment!

Hi Wendy; I agree with you because nowadays, it's difficult not being stressed about the exams or the projects deadlines. From my point of view, we need to expend more time enjoying of the little good things of this life. Therefore it would be a good idea to feel the wind blowing in your face, or smelling the scent of the campus flowers. In conclusion, we need to relax more!

Hi all! That´s my fight with the world. The world requires me to think about the past and to prepare for the future. Life run very fast and i´m trying to stop time. Stop time for living the present and enjoy every breath i take. When life runs we can´t appreciate the details of the day and life is marvellous. I want to enjoy my classes, be happy with the patients, but what i like the most is see my children grow up and spend with my wife and them all time i can. Work absorbs us a lot of time but i refuse to give up my family. Life is too pretty for spending all of it working. We definitely need slow down and look perspective. Best regards all

It is easy to say; "Today I won't worry about anything, I'm going to relax and enjoy life." but, how I can avoid my mind the problems that torment me every day? I consider my a person be able to enjoy the small happiness moments, but when I have my head focused 100% on my university or in my final project, it is very difficult to evade my mind because I think that every second that I relax, I lose a second to think, create, produce ... I don't know, maybe I need a short break to disconnect ... I am so tired...

You must be organized at all times and enjoy each difficult we can appear. Think of the present and in the future, but mostly live every moment of life. Everything comes with time!

This text helps to ask yourself if you’re doing the things you really want to do. Or, at least,it helps you to think about how you are doing them. Do we dedicate enough time to ourselves every day? When did our happiness stop being a priority in our lives? We can’t deny that studying, having great marks and achieving our goals is an incredibly important part of our daily routine. But there’s one thing that should become our main objective: enjoying every second of our lives.

I find the slogan ‘There’s no planet B’ really accurate, as it seems that people believe it doesn’t matter how we actually act with our planet. I sometimes have the feeling that we are not really aware of the terrible damage we are causing to the world we live in. We should start worrying about this matter because, as the picture says, there’s no planet B. We only have this planet, and therefore, we have the obligation of taking care of it.

I still remember when I was younger and I spent the afternoon lying in a park thinking about anything, just to enjoy the air coming out and into my lungs, and listening to the birds sing. Reading this post I realize that years later I no longer looks at the details. I go through life thinking about what to do next without enjoying the moment. So this is nothing more than the past and the near future. Always thinking of what to do and I have not done without really enjoy what I'm doing. Whatever it really is what you require and what you're forced to do the vast majority of the time, and no less sad.

I believe that, almost all people are all their lives planning what are going to do, and maybe for this reason we lost a lot of things in the present. I think that is important to think about future, but we can´t forget the present. We are always hoping something which are going to be in the future, and we don´t realise that other things in the present that in the future won´t be, and for that reason we have to enjoy them now.

I agree with You, because a los of people waste time in many thing that for me aren't as important. When we were litltle the time spent more slowly. I the holidays for summer, we did a lot of things in three months, but now we have only one month and many times we don't organize nothing. In conclusion, i recommend enjoy more when we will stay with friends.

I agree with you. Nowadays we've become in a busy men or women. We don't have time to relax. When we woke up yesterday, we're already thinking about the things we have to do tomorrow. The phrase, take it easy sounds good but can we do it?, we take it easy, I don't think so. We lived in a busy world, if you take a break, you're dead. The big fish eat the little fish.

Our society works really fast. We don’t enjoy the littles things that we do during the day, is all absorbed by the routine. We have to stop and think what are we doing? Let’s enjoy the details, lets live without stress. This kind of text make me think about how faster spend the live and above all how we can lose so many time doing ordinary things which in the end are not important at all.
