A Special English Activity during September Intensives: TOEFL

A Message from Ilene Smalec:
Hello Students,
As we all were informed last Friday in the auditorium, the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) iBT test is an official exam of an individual's ability to use and understand English in an academic setting. It is a requisite for non-native English speakers for admissions at many English-speaking universities in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. It is recognized in more than 130 countries worldwide, including the United States, Canada, Australia and the U.K.
Some scholarship programs and businesses may also require this test. The iBT TOEFL test is designed and administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), and delivered at the UEM, an authorized Prometric Testing Center, in Villaviciosa de Odon.
It is a four- hour test with a ten minute break in the middle and consists of four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. Your English should be at a high-intermediate or advanced level in order to do well on the test.
Learning any language well requires effort, commitment and practice. Reading in English is very important if you plan to take this test sometime in the future, so you must develop the skills you need.
Some of you were able to finish the Reading Comprehension passage successfully during our practice session on Friday. (Remember, ther are from 3-5 reading passages on the test).

Congratulations to those of you who won the raffle. I hope you enjoyed the chocolate lollipops. "Trufa-chups" .

As they say in English "Practice makes perfect." So take advantage of every chance you get to practice your English skills!

Good luck to all of you!

Ilene

Ilene's advice (practice makes perfect) is the key to success. Not only will it lessen the understandable anxiety we feel about exams, but will also be the neccesary step we need to take to make sure we pass! Wherever and whenever we get a spare moment, we should practice our English! Great advice Ilene!

It is a great tip that will help us improve our study habits. We must take into account a number of factors that damage and remove us! We must also take advantage of our free time! I will learn English!
