Happy New Year

Christmas vacation/winter break is almost over; it went by just too fast, didn't it? It was fun to see relatives, all those cousins and nieces and nephews, and grandparents too. Did you go home for Christmas or are you at home in Madrid? You might have gone to your parents' hometown or maybe your children came to see you. Whatever you did, I hope you had a great time with your family and friends. Of course, you helped your parents with all the festivities: you set the table several times, learned to cook like your "abuela", and ate too much turrón. Your old friends came around to say hello and to take you out on the town.

It was a good change of pace, wasn't it? And now we're getting ready to go back to school. 2nd Trimester is about to begin.

In the States we make New Years Resolutions. Sometimes we follow through, and sometimes we don't but the intentions are good. Did you make some good resolutions?

Last year we decided we'd earn money to give to an NGO once again. We gave AMIGOS DE SIERRA LEON the money you contributed during our activities in November: the 19th Book Exchange & Sale and the 10th Thanksgiving Pie Tasting Feast. The people at the NGO were very happy. Then in December with our Candy Canes for Sale we earned 680.50 more euros for them. Our 2nd big book sale for the academic year will be in March. Volunteers and book contributions are welcome.

Happy New Year. What's your resolution for 2015? See you around campus.

This Christmas was great. Actually it's the best I've had in a really long time! I went home and saw my family and friends in my hometown, I ate nice food and basically had a nice break. My big sister came to visit from New York (she's living there since august) and she got us lots of gifts. I really needed this break, even though I love living in Madrid sometimes I miss my... dogs. Ha-ha!

The second Trimester has come and I have classes and examns, but my resolution for the new year is studying english hard even if I´m pretty busy. Since the course started, each week, on wednesday, I have had a "change of pace" during my english class.Happy New Year.

Although I´d rather summer to winter, this Christmas has been very special for my. First of all, I went back home and saw my family, friends... Then it´s been necessary to forget university and take energy to face the second trimester and finally to go hunting with my father which is my favourite hobby. To sum up, I really need this rest even if I look forward to go to Madrid again.

We are in 2015 and I can't believe it. I started the degree "Sciences of Dance" three years ago and It is my final year. Further three years ago I came to live in Madrid. I'm from Mallorca. The years go very fast! Shortly I have to change of pace and I'm not scared. I think that this year will be very hard, but I am ready! I wish you happy new year and lot of positive energy!

MARA CUEVAS-B2.1-T53 Is true that every new year all make a new purposes. In fact I make every years the same intend, I would like read more. This year I start to read a very interesting book, it is about a painting of Renaissance, the title is "La tabla esmeralda". I always began with strong, but later my obligations with University and my job and family makes impossible read a lot. But this year I hope this situation change, because this summer I hope to finish my degree and spend all my time reading. All of my new purpose for 2015 is practice more hiking in the mountains near Madrid, in mountains chain Guadarrama. I have done hiking a lot when I was little, I was a boy scout, and I have gone to the mountains every weekend. But now, It makes a long time that I don´t go there, and I would Like to make it again. The first route that I will go It will be to go across the "Camino Smith", this is a road that connect the Navacerrada pass to Cercedilla village, it is a very hard route his duration is about five hours, but It is the most beautiful landscape in the Guadarrama chain. And this two of my intend to do this year.

On 17th December I went back to my hometown (Málaga) for Christmas. Both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were spent at home with my family and friends. On New Year's Eve, my family and I went to Marbella. My New Year's Resolution is to go on learning English (typical but so true), and focussing more on my final project. Wishing everybody a great 2015.

This last christmas holidays has been a little bit different in comparison with other years. In this occasion, I have been "the guest" for five days in Santander, specifically in Mieres, an small village in Oviedo. I stayed there in a friend house and she showed me the downtown and the village too. It's very curious how the people of a little village lives Christmas. I knew what " Everybody in a village knows the rest of the neighbour" but It's more exaggerated, they are like a family! I couldn't believe when I saw it. All the people help to decorate the streets and they collaborate in order to collect toys for the children of the village. It's very incredible. I think It is the real christmas time and we usually forget it. The big cities are wonderful but more lonely too. It's a little ironic.

This christmas, i stayed at home for one week and the other weeks i went to Galicia with my grandparents and my friends. Madrid in christmas is a chaotic city because many people come for shopping. For this, i prefere going to galicia in holidays. The lights that are in the streets of Madrid are very beautiful. Nevertheless, in other places the government doesnt put them and the streets look like sad.

is a great idea the various initiatives to raise money for people whoo have less, I participated in some of them (the day of the cakes, the sale of books, etc) and I think that it is little money for us, but for them it's a lot.

This Christmas could see my sister and my brother in law who live in London and I can't see them whenever I want. It was a very sentimental Christmas, because the family is reunited although parties because since my parents divorced my sister and me have to split time between the two, but still was funny, could enjoy good times both, and also with my best friend Marta. I made many crafts with my aunt, we love to paint, restore and create furniture and new things, always have something new. I could be with all my animals, I love to leave the door open at night and feel like my cats by lying all around me, on my bed. In conclusion, it was a wonderful Christmas, also could create goals for the new year and am now successfully fulfilling all.

Although they have already spent a few months. I would like to congratulate the year to all readers of this blog. Happy New Year to everyone. This year I plan to learn English , I think is the most important subject. Learn languages is most important , because , in my humble opinion , lets you communicate with other people, and that is very rewarding. On the other hand, this is my last year of college , and I think that marked my life when I graduate .

Special Days I think the most special day in my life was the birth of my child. They are twins, and I remember this moment like it was yesterday. I was very nervous, however in the moment I could see their faces, and felt very calm. It was an the great time. they came into the world in the 21 of march, the first day of spring. I always wanted that they were born in spring, because i think this is the most beautiful seasons. Also this year was warmer and sunny than others. I prepared all their clothes for a cold and took to the hospital an babies clothes for winter. When we went out to the hospital I had to bought a new clothes for them. It was so fun, they never could had worn those suits.

This Christmas I returned to my home, where I have met with family and friends have been very special. On the one hand my cousin has decided to take the big step and get married. On the other hand, I had a car accident that made me stay a week without being able to move my neck. My purposes for 2015 are to pass the English course to graduate this year and go to resurrection fest in summer, among others.

This Christmas, I went the first week to Murcia to visit my brother. He lives there with his girlfriend for years. The second week, in Madrid, I received a visit from a friend who lives in Germany, he stayed a few days here and went out on New Year's Eve with us. It was a good Christmas because I could see all my family and friends who were out of Madrid.

I know that it is late to say congratulations, but at least I said it. My vacations were so quickly but I liked it so much because I was with all my family. This family that I only see once a year: grandmother, grandfather, cousins, cousins of cousins... etc For this year I will improve my English a lot, if it is necessary I would go to London or any country where I could speak English. Also I want to focus on my University studies and have good marks.
